Save your Brain and money Challenge

Did you know that having too many choices can lead to anxiety and stress? It's crazy, right? However, research shows that we humans tend to perform better when we have limited options; this phenomenon is called the paradox of choice.

As someone with ADHD, I often find myself overwhelmed by what I call the "too much syndrome." I juggle multiple apps and streaming platforms. I have Roku for my TV, Castbox(free)for podcasts, Spotify for music, and Hoopla(free) for books and audiobooks.

You might notice that these three apps offer similar content, but Spotify is the only one that requires a subscription fee. I use Spotify because of the Alexa speakers in my studio. I will learn how to use the other apps through Bluetooth and cancel spotify, which is on my to-do list.

This month, I'm challenging myself to use only one app for streaming music, podcasts, and books. For me, that app is Castbox. For Roku, I'll use the PBS app, which offers a variety of entertainment, has no commercials, features short videos, and is free! If possible, try to pause or remove your other subscriptions from your home screen:

- Hulu: Go to your account page, find the "Your Subscription" section, and click "Pause." You can pause for up to 12 weeks.

- Netflix: Canceling your subscription will pause your account for 10 months.

- Amazon Prime Video: You can pause your membership indefinitely during the cancellation process.

Of course, like most people, I have a family, so it's not always feasible to remove all the apps. However, I do pause them until each of us has one.

I benefit from this exercise in two ways: 1) I learn the app thoroughly, and 2) I usually discover something new.

I hope you can join me in this challenge—it's on the honor system! By March 28th, if you complete the task, email me the app and streaming channel you used and what you enjoyed most about it. As a reward, I'll send you a $20 off coupon from the original price for you to use at the Studio.
